This morning visited Forest Office & contacted Alex McQueen Supervisor of Humboldt N-F. He seems a pleasant fellow & very friendly to Survey. Thence to County Agts office where I met Mark Minkey County Agt who is carrying on Squirrel work in Elko Co. where 5/6 of Sams poison work is carried on. He told story of many thousands of rabbits dying this past winter. He is also carrying on Magpie poisoning campaign. Sam informed him we could have no connection with it.
Thence Mr. P.J. Ogelyne Rodent Leader for South Fork community came to hotel. He said they had plenty of squirrels but were waiting for settled weather to put on drive. He was urged to keep farmers at it despite scarcity of squirrels.
We left Elko at 10:00 AM with Fairchild in old international truck. It is a wreck & cannot go in high on level road. Sam advised to dispose of it and secure a better car for Fairchild who is wasting time on road. Believe he can secure good deal so that his trade in value plus cost of repairs for this car will purchase a new one.
Stopped for dinner at Barr Stewarts sheep camp. His boss Camelio Jayo spoke very highly of our trapper Pete Barinaga who is working out from there. Barinaga turned out 38 coyotes this month & this man has found three since
