Left Berkeley at 1000 AM & to S.F. to McMullins & down the peninsula. Called at Berkeley Hort & Leonard Coades Inc at San Jose & arrived in Buellton at 900 pm.
Feb 12, 1933  Out with Sam Lyons over quail country saw approximately [[underlined]] 1000 quail & more band tailed pigeons [[/underlined]] than in any other place in my life. Also [[underlined]] mourning doves. [[/underlined]] This in Santa Barbara Thallium district. Saw & collected several birds new to me. [[underlined]] Anna's Hummer, Western Gnatcatcher [[/underlined]] etc

Feb 13, 1933. Finished Job & out to see Dr. Guy C. Rich & Nye Williams.
[[underlined]]Feb 14, 1933. [[/underlined]] with Geo Willett at Museum & out over harbor where I secured first [[underlined]] Wyman's Gulls [[/underlined]] & also saw my first [[underlined]] Black vented shearwater. [[/underlined]] At Museum in PM & to L. I. Jacobsens in evening

   At Museum also put Clara on board boat & left her. Felt rather lonely as it has been wonderful to have her along. To Newport in evening.

Lv L.A. at 730 AM. Car trouble all the way to Phoenix arriving at 1030 PM. No stops except those compelled by cars behavior.
   Saw several & killed one phainopepla.

   At Phoenix office writing Letters etc. To Gilchrists in evening.
