Traub + I went out on the desert in the moonlight to see the effect of those trees which Poole told of seeing. If Milton had seen them think he could have added something to his description of  Hell.
April 9.1933
Lv Victorville 700 AM arr Bridgeport 600 PM a long weary drive thru the desert except for the last 50 miles which was along the eastern flank of the main Sierras. Saw few birds + little traffic. The Sierras are beautiful from this side and a most interesting looking region They resembled the Wallowas in contour very much. Skinned a couple of birds
April 10, 1933
Lv Bridgeport at 730 AM It was cold last night + neither car would start without a tow car. When we finally got under way any radiator was frozen up in spite of the prestone in it. Then my generator went haywire again and finally burned out completely. I ran on the battery to Reno where I had the generator repaired at a cost of 13.80 cents Bid Pooles + Traub good bye and spent the balance of the day with [[Sans?]] going over points to be considered in an emergency programe. Arrived at Reno 1100 AM Sans wants me to come down in May and go over some special problems be has coming up in Southern Nevada.

Left Reno 800 AM and arrived in Sacto at noon no trouble at all- road good but High Sierras still covered
