Sept. 25, 1934
Mr. Darling telling me that I was scheduled to return to Washington as assistant chief of [[insertion]] new [[/insertion]] Division of Research. Glad to get the promotion but hate like hell to leave this country. Worked all day on mail.
Sept. 26, 1934
Worked all day on mail with both Miss King & Haels taking dictation most of the day.  Got off Turnbull Slough reports and property reports etc.  Worked some on Matheur.
Sept. 27, 1934
 My birthday celebrated by long arduous day in office.  Worked until six on personnel problems.
Sept. 28, 1934. Same only more so with  a constant stream of people thru the office

Garlough in office for conference & home with me in evening.

  Visited duck areas on Sauvies with Jim Morris and Garlough. secured two yellowlegs which I skinned in evening

 In office general office work & mail all day

 Met Chris McClees in McMinville for a conference.  Also Ballard, Dean Schoenfeldt, Morse & Ralph Beck.  After lunch we adjourned the conference to my cottage where it continued with great vigor & gusto far into the night
