April 5, 1935.
   To Big Levels Game Reserve with McNair & Gross.  Walked up Cold Run & onto ridge to Green Pond, and arround refuge and back to car a total of ten miles.  Lots of Arbutus in bloom.  Also dandelions, 1 viola pedata & [[armelauclia?]].  Much more feed for deer, birds & wild life than yesterday.  Country covered with pine and scrub oak quercus ilicefolia.  Thru it [[comus?]] chestnutt oak which chokes [[strikethrough]] it [[/strikethrough]] back same.  Lots of Wintergreen, Vaccinium, Sour [[Grape?]], Dogwood - alder - willow etc & more ground plants.
  Saw lots of fox tracks but not so many as yesterday.  Found remains of three squirrels & grouse in droppings also mice and chipmunks.  Plenty of food, water & cover for many more turkeys & deer, & grouse than are present.  Suggested opening fire lanes & seeding to food plants.  Numerous turkey tracks. Saw. No deer or bear tracks
