Feb 21, 1937 (cont) Lovely dinner-fine time in spite of storm Feb 22, 1937. To Morleys with Jewett & Welmore & had a nice trip in spite of mud. Got ten or twelve birds - nothing rare but a nice time. Jewett & I came home and skinned birds while doc [[strikethrough]] ? [[/strikethrough]] to go to some kind of a shindig Feb 23, 1937 To office with suitcase packed to go to N.Y. for sports writers Banquet. Taken with flue at noon & had to come home & go to bed Feb 24-28. Home with flu. Not out of house except for an hour or so Saturday morning for a conference with Secs Staff. Left 5:00 PM on Penn on 28 with sec Wallace for wild Life Conference. Mar 1, 1937 Arr St Louis. Met at train by police escort Mayor & city dignitaries and had to ride to hotel in State. Sec. gave a fine talk and it was well received. He took train back at 6:00 PM. I talked to people until midnight Mar 2, 1937 Talked to people all day never got a chance to sit in a meeting at all. Visited with a flock of them. Had my meeting with game commissioners today + results were elegant. Talked to Darling in the morning & his gang in P.M. Lincoln told his story well & then I put Bill Tucker into chair & let them talk. They pretty well argued each other
