May 15, 1937
   Visited two forest preserves and had a fine meeting in evening with Timber & others.  Stayed at Sherburne Inn.
[[strikethrough]] May 16 [[/strikethrough]] [[Bump?]] & his bunch want to go a little faster than seems wise altho their grouse study is certainly pointing the way.
May 16, 1937
   Left Sherburne at 6:00 AM.  Visited Sherburne game farm & then Montizuma Marshes.  Certainly looks very feasible proposition and we are making some progress.  Have use permit & will start working soon with men from Howlands island C.C.C. camp.  Visited island with [[Bump?]] & other and found a wonderful lot of ponds with some breeding birds already present.  also some good Flanders ducks.  Left 5:00 P.M & started to Washington.
May 17, 1937
   Drove all night and arrived in Washington at 6:30 AM.  Washed, shaved & to office in time for a ten oclock meeting of nursery committee.  Then back to office with much work to do!
May 18, 1937.
   Tired but kept at it.  Had a visit with Carl Shoemaker, Dirksen etc. over appointments & over the bill.  Senate cut out house increases & also restored the one house cut below budget.
