Tired as hell tonight.  I must have rowed that boat at least ten miles today and part of it at high speed.
July 29, 1937
   Rained hard all day [[writeover]] and [[over]] ? [[/writeover]] we got off to a late start to Lake Baskatong.  It is a huge lake spread out over many miles of territory.  Lots of islands etc.  Country all heavily cut & burned over.  I've always heard that Canada always managed these things better than we do in the States but this is certainly an exploited country.  Every stick has been cut.  It has been burned over & over again & little is left now over wide areas except blueberries, raspberries, hazel & aspen.  Hundreds of lakes & ponds.  Saw several new birds including a brood of green winged teal & one of pintails.  Baskatong is a power reservoir & has a bad looking shoreline of dead trees & stumps.  However these are disappearing
