His edge is .789 to .528. Clay, the brash Louisville Lip, has stopped 15 of 19 opponents in his three-year career as a proffesional. Liston, has finished off 19 of 36 in 11 years of champaigning, wherein he lost only once. The average compiled by Clay, tops that of all but two holders of the crown. these are Rocky Marciano, never-beaten in 49 bouts and owner of 43 KOs, and Joe Louis, who uncorked 54 KOs in 67 victories while making 71 starts. Their marks were .878 and .761 respectively. Clay, who generates the power for his knockouts with windmill attacking rather then the traditional big-punch explosion, prefaced his pro maturity in this regard by a knockout-studded record as an amateur. In watching Clay prepare for Liston, it is obvious that his machine gun attack is designed to wear the champion down before 15 rounds. Liston, however, can take you out with one punch. But, Clay's pim-pointed volume attack carries the same message.
