Then I go approximately 50 yds up road. See a single Yellow-faced Whitestart, 20 ft up, in a tangle of vines with pink flowers, the same species on which Laf seen feeding. Whitestart sings a number of phrases. Then shuts up.

[[underlined]] Laf joins [[/underlined]] [[right arrow]] Whitestart. Then a single [[green check mark]] [[purple]] 6 [[/purple]] Yellowbelly joins [[right arrow]] group. All three birds flitting about in trees and vines 15-25 ft up. Twice, Whitestart follows [[right arrow]] Laf! Then Laf Sings, while Whitestart is only 1-2 ft away. Then Whitestart

starts to [[underlined]] chase Laf.
Repeatedly! Obviously hostile. [[/underlined]] Some chases may include bodily contacts. Laf sings again between and after chases!
Then a whole [[underlined]] mass [[/underlined]] of birds appears in exactly same area.

2 [[two green checkmarks]] [[purple]] 9 [[/purple]] Black & Blue Tanagers; at least 1 [[[green checkmark]] [[purple]] 10 [[/purple]] Sitti; and at least 2 [[underlined]] Basileuterus [[/underlined]] [[two green checkmarks]] [[purple]] 11 [[/purple]] and/or [[underlined]] Hemispingus [[/underlined]] types; which I can not see well enough to identify. Also at least 1 [[green checkmark]] [[purple]] 12 [[/purple]] flycatcher LXXXXI. Probably others.
All these birds may be said to have joined [[right arrow]] Laf-Whitestart-Yellow-belly group.
For a [[underlined]] short [[/underlined]] while, the Yellow-faced Whitestart seems to be the leader of the group.
All the birds except the [[underlined]] Basileuterus [[/underlined]] and/or [[underlined]] Hemispingus [[/underlined]] types are ranging 5-25 ft up in a great in a variety of vegetation. The [[underlined]] Basileuterus [[/underlined]] and/or [[underlined]] Hemispingus [[/underlined]] types, by contrast, are staying very low in scrub, probably ranging from only a few inches to 3 ft above ground. They also are staying well under cover.
Most of the birds seem to be looking for insects. Flycatchers and Whitestarts fly catching. But the two Blue& Blacks and the Yellow-be
