Work all day over copying notes & meteorology. P.M. go aboard the Eustace & Alexander and spend the evening. Ther. min 34°.

Sunday May 25
Morning sky half clear with fresh West wind. min. ther. 34°. Go ashore at 7 A.M. with Baker and the vertical circle and take some observations for time by reciprocal zenith distances. work till 10 A.M. then come aboard. After dinner go ashore and see Rufe about getting two men for the [[Vidarka?]] [[bidarka?]] to go to Kulekhva Bay. Then aboard [[strikethrough]] to supper [[/strikethrough]] go out again with the vertical circle and get a few more observations before it clouds up. Aboard to supper and then go aboard the Alexander & the Eustace and then ashore stopping a little while with Smith on the way back.

Monday May 26
Morning cloudy nearly calm or light Southerly air. The Alexander starts on another trip to St. Paul & George towing the Eustace out. Capt. Giles and the sloop Jabez Howes sail for Chernoffsky with Newman who is
