Wednesday July 2nd, 1873
Dense fog all day. Spend A.M. in dredging. P.M. send boat off to erect signals on Little Kyska & South Head of Big Kyska. Evening play crib & skin birds.

Thursday July 3rd
Dense wet fog & fresh wind with a pretty heavy swell. Morning, put things in order. P.M. Go off with the boat & Mr. Noyes & run some shore line & measure the baseline of the harbor [[triangle symbol]]n. Back by 6.30 P.M. 

Friday July 4th
Spend morning in putting specimens to rights. Dense wet fog & rain. P.M. go over to the other sea beach beyond the North Head and get a good many plants & some shells. Evening popcorn & play crib  raining & blowing hard.

Saturday July 5
Foggy & rainy in A.M. cloudy & blowy in P.M. Work at copying &c. all day Boat goes after codfish but get none 

Sunday July 6
Work in A.M. over collections. P.M. Go ashore and cross the divide to the other side of the island finding a good many nests. Day foggy wet & strong SW wind
