Sunday June 9 / 95
Kootznahoo lagoon southeast arm - Sepphagen mine. shaft 8 ft deep full of water, Hoisting apparatus & small car. A few tons of coal taken out (specimen bag No. 115.) about 3 years previous to our visit now reduced by slacking to small flakes. Appears to have been a small pocket soon exhausted. Seam in friable sandstones and soft shales dipping about 30° NW. only a short distance from the water's edge.
