one of vital importance was by our treasurer Bro Davis who stated that we were due at this meeting to compensate our Officers for their faithful services rendered the union during the year. & in view of the fact that we have heretofor paid by check he felt that it would be a saving to the union. 2 per ct on each check should we pay in cash. this suggestion met the approvel of all and our treas was highly commended for same and by unanimous consent our treas was authorized by our President to carry out his suggestion.
This Meeting Marking the beginning of another year was one of the best we have had. We feel that as we had to the best of our ability served the union faithfully in the years gone by. and entering into another fiscal year with a clean sheet. we are thankful to God for it all.
And by the many heartfelt testimonies that went up at this meeting. it showed that we are satisfied that if we keep our hands in Gods hand He will lead us on to greater achievements in the future. each officer pledged. their whole hearted support to make this year a banner year.
It was moved and properly seconded that we adjourn

Bladensburg. Md
Aug 1 - 1938

The Bladensburg union convened in regular business session on the above date the President presiding.
Our devotionals was in charge of Bro Jesse James in absence of the Chaplain.
After the roll call of Officers the Pres declared the meeting opened for business.
Dues was collected to the amt of $35.40 which was turned over to our treas.
The Minutes of our last regular meeting was read and approved of.
There being no unfinished business new business was next called for.
Bro Abberdine presented a sick Cirtificate showing that he had been confined to his bed in the Hospital for 34 days. A brief discussion followed the receipt of this Cirtificate the union regretted very much. that this Cirtificate could not be honored for several reasons. 1st - this being the second time that a Hospital Cirtificat had been received under similar circumstances two years ago. at that time it was fully explained that to Bro Abberdine. that the constitution plainly states that when a member takes sick he must notify the Chm of sick. of which he promised to do.
2-d the Chm of sick did not know he had even been sick.
No satisfactory statement [[insertion]] or reason [[/insertion]] could be given as to why the Chairman of sick was not notified therefor a
