Leaving 9:45 am.

April 7, 1965
Paramo La Negra

Arrive usual spot 6:15 am. Just starting to get light.

It is [[underline]] much [[/underline]] colder today than yesterday. Also clearer.

Dawn chorus also somewhat louder. More thrush songs.

6:45 am. Almost nothing moving - except thrushes.

6:48 Hear PL-type twitters in distance. Also, possibly, Cy-type songs (uphill).

6:55. Blue [[1 checkmark 1 blue checkmark]] [[circled in blue]] 47 [[/circled]] [[red checkmark]] Diglossa singing from top tall tree. 35 ft above ground. Songs sound like those heard yesterday. Again I only see bird silhouetted against sunrise. But it looked as if it might well be [[underline]] Coer. [[/underline]]

Whitestart sings both before and after Diglossa. No overlap.

7:10 am. Group of at least 4 [[4 checkmarks 4 blue checkmarks 4 green checkmarks]] [[underline]] B. luteoviridis [[/underline]] passes rapidly uphill. Very noisy. Lots of Rattles & Flourishes. They were following a group of [[2 green checkmarks and 2 blue checkmarks]] 2 or 3 small birds. I didn't get a good view of the latter, but at least one of them appeared to be green. Probably a [[underline]] chlorophonia. [[/underline]]

7:25. Sun has reached this spot now. It is warming up rapidly. But everything is deadly dull and dead quiet.

8:20. See single PL [[1 checkmark 1 red checkmark 1 blue checkmark]] feeding quietly in blackberry thicket. Alone. (There is always a single PL, or a pair, alone in this area.)

Some distance further on, see another single [[1 red checkmark and 1 blue checkmark]] PL alone. Feeding in low sparse scrub.

Fog and cloud starting to come in 8:25.
