Don't hear or see anything like a mixed flock. [[underlined]] The tendency to form mixed flocks seems to fall off rapidly with altitude in the Sierra de Merida. [[/underlined]]

Going to work same area where Lafs were heard yesterday. Arrive 5:45 am. Pitch black. Fog. Cold. Also windy!

First (miscellaneous) bird sounds heard 6:16 am.
6:53. See pair [[two red check marks]] [[two green check marks]] of [[underlined]] B. nigrocristatus [[/underlined]]. 6-10 ft up in thick vegetation. [[circled]] USF-AS [[/circled]] Very noisy. Lots of Rattle-Flourishes. But definitely alone.

Then [[underlined]] nigrocristatus [[/underlined]] move on, about 30 ft. [[/underlined]] Apparently, Whitebeards f [[right arrow]] [[underlined]] nigrocristatus. Then Whitebeards move on past [[underlined]] nigrocristatus [[/underlined]]. And [[underlined]] nigrocristatus [[/underlined]] f [[right arrow]] Whitebeards. Then [[3 green checkmarks]] [[2 checkmarks]] [[underlined]] 2 [[/underlined]] Lafs (described elsewhere) j [[right arrow]] group. Presumably "escorting".

8:31 am. Go about 100 yds down hill. Area similar vegetation. [[underlined]] And I come across what seems to be an entirely different mixed flock. At least [[4 green checkmarks]] 2 Inters, [[2 green checkmarks]] 1 [[underlined]] luteoviridis [[/underlined]] - type (usual species), [[2 green checkmarks]] 1 woodcreeper CII, [[2 green checkmarks]] 1 Laf, [[4 green checkmarks]] 2 or 3 Little Striped Flycatchers, [[4 green checkmarks]] 2 Whitebeards, [[2 green checkmarks]] 1 Empidonax-type flycatcher, other
