(1) In 1824 Parry tried to leave due North from Spitzbergen 
with Boat-Sledges but was obliged to return without achieving
anything worth mentioning. [[strikethrough]] Parry [[/strikethrough]]

(1) Parry did achieve that which history never fails to record That he made the nearest approach to the North Pole [[strikethrough]] of the north [[??]] [[/strikethrough]] than any one before or since & that too under such disadvantages that make the most daring shudder.

In 1829 the Rosses (unkle & nephew) sailed into [[Primea Reystic?]] Inlet explored [[superscript]] A [[/superscript]]300 miles of new coast, [[superscript]] B [[/superscript]] discovered the magnetic polar & traveled within  miles of Sir John Franklin's [[?]] stopping place on the Mackenzie expedition but beset by ice & forced to abandon the ships were given up for lost & were only [[insertion]] providentially [[/insertion]] rescued by a passing vessel after 4 year detention in the ice.

Both ship's were abandoned [[superscript]] A [[/superscript]] 5 miles NNW of Pt Victory [[strikethrough]] 15 miles & [[/strikethrough]] 5 leagues = 15 mils
It seems [[superscript]] A [[/superscript]] certain that they died off 1 by one in that terrible journey until no one in [[strikethrough]] that terrible [[/strikethrough]] was left to tell the tale - A Not to [[?]] -
