on account the land ashore, the schooner "Rescue", at anchor on the star-board bow about 20 rods distant. At 9 [[strikethrough]] commenced [[/strikethrough]] she commenced dragging her anchor & brought up abeam of the George Henry & held on to 4 o clock Morn of the 27. At 11 night of 26th, wind blowing a [[strikethrough]] gale a [[/strikethrough]] hurricane with thick snow, Big "Georgiana" broke her small anchor & dragged her big one on to the point of the island leeward of us, where she brought up heavily. - Worried her anchor around the point, into comparative smooth water where she continued pounding her lee-board side on the rocks. The crew all left the Brig & went on to the island expecting every moment when she [[strikethrough]] would [[/strikethrough]] would, past her chain to drive out into the Bay. Where there would have been no possible chance of saving their lives. At 4 o'clock the "Rescue" started again & went on to the island broadside, where she remained pounding during the whole of the 27th.
At 9 o clock AM of the 27th the wind moderated a very little - lowered a boat from the "George Henry" & dropped it astern by means of a tow-line [[strikethrough]] allowing it to drift under [[/strikethrough]] the two aboard of it guiding it under the bow-sprit of the "Rescue" which lay upon the rocks, heel up. The crew of the Georgiana by getting on the "Rescue" got into the boat & were thus hauled board the G.H.
At 12 Meridian of the 27th the storm increasing, both the "Georgiana" & "Rescue" pounding very heavily on the rocks & both worsening their anchors around the small island, in opposite directions.
Morning of the 28th both vessels brought up stationary gale moderating. At 9 AM managed to get on shore - found the larboard side of the "Rescue" badly stove but the "Georgiana" by being in a [[insertion]] much [[/insertion]] less exposed place, was found to be perfectly tight: At 11 o'clock the crew of the "Georgiana" went aboard of her & there remained.
Later part of the day wind moderated. Examined the "Rescue" & gave up all hopes of refreshing her.
