Polar Bear tracks were seen by Lamb & the Innuits with him. From their report Bears must be numerous. It is now time for Seal. - Igloos (little chambers under the snow) where the Seals produce their young. Bears scent these & thus revel.

I learn from Tuk-oo-li-to that a short time after Ebierbing's return from bringing me down, that he & "Jack" went up to the Sealing waters (open water of Oo-kood-lear where I have alread stated I went) & that the latter came near loosing his life having fallen through the ice into the swiftly running tide. "Jack" lost everything gun-powder & all - & saved himself by happily catching his chin on to the edge of the firm ice as the tide was sweeping him under.

Tuk-oo-li-too also informs me that the Angeko (An-u-a-ping) his 2 wives & Jack met with an accident wh. for a while threatened to be disasterous to them. They had gone several miles up the coast (above where I spent the most of 43 days) on a Sealing excursion. All at once the ice on wh. they were, became detached & away they went to Sea. In a few days, wind & tide set the flow back again & thus they escaped a terrible death.

Seven seconds & 24/100 past 12 noon (Mean time at Greenwich (on 1861, Mar 22d h0-m0-Sec7.24 Astronomical time) said Transit occurs. At 11 o'clock 56 min Sec11.32 AM to morrow (on 1861 = Mar 22d h23-m56-Sec11.32 Astronomical time) it again occurs.

A short time after dinner, "Sharkey" returned from Frobisher Bay with a load of Walrus meat, Skin etc. Most of this is for feed for the Dogs of Ebiernbing & Ugarny.

I am receiving a very pleasant visit from my friends, Ebiernbing & Tuk-oo-li-too. They intended to depart to-morrow but the prospect is the gale which commenced to-night will prevent them.

Tuk-oo-li-too has been overhauling my clothing - repairing them. She seems to exercise the same anxiety & care for my things as though I were of the family.

This evening I engaged in the game
