The wind coming stronger & colder we departed for the Igloo where we arrived with good appetites for the frozen slices of raw Walrus that were liberally passed around for the Company's participation. Here I communicated to Sterry the object of my coming over at this time wh. was to prospect the possibility making my way to the extent or head of Frobisher Bay for the purpose of exploring it. I found if I would delay my stop a few days before returning to the ship, perhaps Kok-er-jab-in, her son, Mam-me-ar-che'-er ("Cap-a-tain") & Sterry would accompany ^[[me]] to another settlement some 25 miles up the Bay where I could better come to a conclusion of the practicability. Of course, I cheerfully [[strikethrough]] causes [[/strikethrough]] sought every [[strikethrough]] oppor [[/strikethrough]] opportunity for the advancement of my grand object & awaited the determination of the prospective company.
This makes my [[underlined]] second night ^[[of this trip]] in an Igloo! [[/underlined]] I accepted the invitation of Sterry & the Innuits in same Igloo to take up nights quarters here. I am to sleep in my day-rig not having brought any sleeping gear with me. A single tuk-too skin (fur on) would answer me better than ten thicknesses of common sleeping blankets - A fact!

After this went upon the hill fronting the Igloos (6, but only 3 now occupied) & took a look of the Bay - Saw Seals here & there popping up their heads in every direction now & then a Walrus. And I heard The same sounds as the day before of What Que-jes-se had told me was by [[strikethrough]] Met [[/strikethrough]] Mei-tuks (Ducks)!
The usual attendant to my mountain excursions at Rescue Harbor ("Cap-a-tain") coming up, I invited him to go with me on to the Bay ice between us & Oo-pung-ne-wing Island, to assist in carrying tape line wh. invitation he readily accepted.
My object was to measure height of the peak where I; Sterry & the ^[[2]] Innuits met yesterday & from wh. I viewed "Meta Incognita" - and also the height of a small Island at the left in pursuing from it to Oo-pung-ne-wing.
Two stand points ^[[from wh. I took angles]] & measured one distance, answered for ascertaining height of [[underlined]] both. [[/underlined]]

A to D. 5[[degree symbol]] -10[[feet symbol]] then with tape line measured base line A to B. [[underlined]] 1320 [[/underlined]] feet (from this 20 x 66)
