process - [[?drawing]] the whole skinned Duck out of a little hole by the duck's leg. The skin with feathers all on - Mostly made into socks for Winter's wear. The luxury of eating the fat off the turned skin - a kind of pastime for the children! Nood-loo-ong presents me with one of the ducks to carry to the vessel to-morrow. I am obliged to decline taking it on a/c weight. She asks if I will have them cooked or raw. My answer Cooked. The operation of dressing the inwards - my examination of the gizard &c. - find Clams & Sea Snails in complete state within the Crop. The abundance & largeness - the excellence of the eating. The immediate action for cooking them. The moving over to Kokerjabin & others to this settlement - by night Sterry making his appearance - in time to take supper with me at Annawas on Ducks. The numerous Walrus heads with tusks adorning almost every Igloo of the place - a dozen Igloos. The play of Dominos. The wrestling game by the men Innuits for hours this Eve by hours in succession. No Sabbath known among this people. Shall it always be so? The peculiar way of begging pipes & Tobacco by Nood-loo-ong! She seeks her pipe - her tobacco. The whole Igloo set to the music of Bedlam on a/c not finding either - this kept up till I come to the rescue making a present of a pipe & Tobacco. The search & hubbub this ends! The whole family understood the [[underlined]] game [[/underlined]] - & so did I - I played my part [[underlined]] understandingly. [[/underlined]] I, of course had come prepared to make presents, but generally took my own time & way of doing it. Nood-loo-ong's extraordinary movement threw me out of my regular rule. Never mind, she felt gratified at her success & I at the incident, wh. I have now recorded.

Back again in the little cabin of the George Henry!

In good Season I was up this Morn. I made my announcement last night to Annawa & his nuliana, Nood-loo-ong that if the weather would admit, I should start back to-day. The weather looking bad I thought it prudent to get an Innuit to accompany me as I might be overtaken by a storm & meet with trouble. I proceeded to where Sterry was & called him up. He said I should not think of starting back without company.

Esh-oo-loo, a young man Innuit, wished to accompany me to the ship. I therefore proposed he should be in readiness soon as possible. He called up his nuliana, Oong-a, & requested she should go too. An Innuit will always take along his wife when he can in making a tour. Oong-a sprung up - & in [[underlined]] one minute was ready [[/underlined]] for the day's trip of near 20 English miles! The present of Sterry to me of a Beautiful Drake (Eider Duck) that he had shot. Fine specimen - its loss to day by an Innuit here who was cleaning the skin - disfigured the same too badly for saving it. The farewell - Puto with white child the last to cry out: Tu-bou-e-tie. The travelling bad - snow deep & soft - a contrast from what it was going over.
