One week ago today we commenced our voyage. One week at Sea! A miserable time of it for I have been quite ill nearly all the time. Now as I write I feel bad - my hand like a mountain of solid rock.  
To day while at dinner the cry from above: There she blows! There she blows! This was glorious to all on board. [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[?]] [[?]] the]] If you ve seen ^[[in the distance]] smoke arising from the firing of ^[[ [[strikethrough]] in the distance [[/strikethrough]] ]] an old fashioned flint lock [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] you have the appearance of the blow of the Whale - A flash in the pan & all is over. I watched with eager interest the school of fin-backs. The [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] individuals were numerous 29 or 30. A very [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] rare sight
