with the crew of Innuits engaged by Capt. B. will, in my opinion, capture 2 or 3 Whales before the "George Henry" gets to that Bay.
The Natives at Budingtonville (with the exception of Innuit crew alluded to above ^[[& their families]] ) are preparing to depart from there & proceeding up the Bay of Frobisher in Ki-as + an Oo-mi-en on a long Tuk-too hunt. They have their family or women Boat "Oo-mi su" covered with new skins - of the Ook-gook - + in complete readiness. When I make my Boat excursion up that Bay I may come across this party. Eggs & Ducks continue to be the abundant fare of all them at Budingtonville.
However the Egg Season is nearly over - Ducks not setting. Their last eggs are now being laid. It is said a Duck's last egg of the season [[underlined]] is very small? True. [[/underlined]]
I learn one of ^[[my]] Greenlanders, "Ee" is dead. She has been on the disabled list for ^[[many]] weeks from a large swelling on her neck. Her misery became so constant + pitious that out of good will to the suffering beast she was shot.  My favorite, intelligent, noble dog Bar-be-Kark is now with me. I retain him

XII Midnight - Wind Fresh W. - few clouds bright sky - a change in the scene of last few weeks so light has it been through the nights that stars & Aurora have not been seen for months by us.

Ice formed last night. This remark might be truthfully made every morning with but an occasional exception. Men engaged [taking?] the Whale bone overboard onto the ice cleansing it by washing - brooming or scrubbing.
In the P.M. went out to Whale (Crow) Island.  
[[strikethrough]] Friday, July 12th, 1861 Anoth [[/strikethrough]] Saw & counted about 140 seals on the ice ^[[by their holes]] in the Bay. They were constantly lifting up their heads, rolling over, lifting & shaking their heads & flippers as if in perfect enjoyment of the Sun's warming [[strikethrough]] rays [[/striekthrough]] rays.
