Sylvia [[strikethrough]] Grinnell [[/strikethrough]] Island bears S.E. & Ob Mt. 2 or 2 1/2 miles below the straits N.W. by B. Compass.  As we arrived near Ob. Mt. quite a high mountain - Island mid Lupton Strait.  The breeze had spent itself.  The tide flowing therefore was against us consequently I had to give up all idea of getting to Og-bin-see-u-ping (Budingtonville) to-night wh. I had determined on our starting if it were feasible, & go into 1st encampment N.W. side Lupton Strait.

As we entered the bight opposite Ob. Mt. for this our 1st Enc. Ducks were numerous.  The Innuits shot several.  We find wood

plentiful - from the wreck of the Whale ship "Traveller".  This our 1st night out.  We are all closely packed in one large tupik having had a glorious supper on Seal, Ducks & Coffee.
There are relics of former tupiks being the circles of stones - bones of Seal, Walrus &c &c all around.
Saw a White Whale making its way up the Strait to-night.
