Koo-jes-se's peculiar look when he said what he did told me something was in it. A fair - a strong breeze kept us bounding ahead - as we turned the point of the Island on wh. we are now encamped (6th) all looked fair ahead. On turning another point we were square or rather on the very verge of Dry land - or [[strikethrough]] rather [[/strikethrough]] I may say of land that a short time before (say 6 hours before) was 25 feet under water! Koo-jes-se watched me & I him. He laughed out-right when I having charge of the sail, called out to the crew pulling away at the oars: 'Tur-bar' (stop)! I told Koo-jes-se if that was the only way on our route we would stop to-night for travelling on such land would be no joke!
The Boat was soon around making for this Island when discovering a flock of ducks on opposite side the Innuits went in for a half hour's chase but to no purpose.
Koo-jes-se however said at some distance toward opposite side F. Bay there was plenty room & plenty water but thought it best to camp where we are to-night - & start early to-morrow morn before tide fell.
Then we could go without going away around.

The Islands are very numerous around here seem numberless. They are so to me now.
Quite into night when we get into Camp.

The course for us this Morning was 32° by Az. Compass for 6/10 of a mile. This I make thus:
To top of mount by the sea that I made on Leaving [[strikethough]] Toong-wing [[/strikethrough]] (Ming-u-toon) 5th Encampment 1111 Paces (after allowing for the rise) equivalent to, say === *6/10 of One mile.
[[note]] * [[calculation]] 400 x 4 = 1600 x 24 = 6400 + 3200 = 384000 / 6086 = 6/10* [[/note]]
Bearing of spit of encampment Az C 212°
"Dinner Point" (Que Yin) bore 190°
Course from said point where I was to Sugar Loaf Mt. by the sea 21°
Distance [[four vertical lines with horizontal line denoting 5, two vertical lines denoting 2]] (each mark representing 100) = 700 x 4 x 2.4 feet = = = One & 1/10 mile
Arived aboard at base "Sugar loaf" the N. side by B compass of a small bay at h3-m20 Chro. where we started.
Even with Cape S side by Bay B Compass entrance to wide mouthed Bay h4-m05
Keep along the Coast in the Bay & stop for Meridional Obs. hIV-m55 wh. see page on 3 of this day.
