(4) 1861 Aug 21 Wedns 10th Enc 13th Day Where I were, I could see the proceeding of both Boat Companies at the Enc. (9th). When they were in readiness for starting I started to descend but on the opposite side of the Mountain from the one I had ascended, [[strikethrough]] That said I [[/strikethrough]] but I soon found it necessary to make return steps & go down another direction for the mountain's side was one vast rock roof-like & too steep for human feet to adhere. After a [[underlined]] long, hard [[/underlined]] [[strikethrough]] travell [[/strikethrough]] tug, down mountain & up mountain - along craggy rocks & finally over quite a plain, I [[strikethrough]] finally [[/strikethrough]] hailed our boat wh. soon found me aboard - having made good 2 miles from encampment. It was h2-m37 Chro. or near h9-m37 AM (9th Enc. Time). Soon as aboard, we made speed under "White Ash breeze" wh. seems the only favorable way we have of getting up Frobisher Bay - the wind being generally dead ahead. At h3-00 Chro drew up in company with the other Boat (of 14 Innuits) to an Island & landed. The other Boat however was ahead of us for our Boat had been detained in looking out & waiting for me. Before we got to the Island heard the loud exclamation of the An-ge-ko! There was Jack seated on the wet rocks (the tide's [[end page]] [[start page]] (5) 1861 Aug 21 Wedns 10th Enc 13th Day ebbing had left them so) ankooting for poor Susy ([[space]]) who was [[underlined]] reclining [[/underlined]] in the bow of the Boat on a bed of Took-too furs. Some of the Innuits of the Company were out on the Island while the rest were participating in the serious exercises. Soon as we landed h3-00 (Chro.) I went upon the highest point of the Island & sighted. {Bearing by Az.
