[[centered]] FOR PRIZE CONTEST. [[/centered]]
Mr. W. Atlee Burpee:
Dear Friend,
I am so glad to be asked to write you a letter, for I have looked on you as a friend ever since I first saw your Seed Catalogue. You surely would win a prize for the best public benefactor among agricultural mankind. Your seeds are so certain to grow, they are so reasonable in price, and their delivery is so prompt that I never worry about the out-come- just get the soil in proper condition and follow your directions as to method and time of planting. I have often wondered how you could get so many things in vegetables and flowers printed in such a small space. It must be a joy to you to be surrounded by so many growing things and know that in other places you have as many more, and a greater joy that you have helped thousands of others to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
It is such a beautiful idea to produce the colored flowers and vegetables. Who can help but order cucumber seed after looking at your green cucumbers, or sweet peas after seeing the beautiful page of sweet peas. This might almost be called a love letter for I do love to read your catalogue and wish I could plant everything you mention in it.
Very truly yours,
(mrs.) Fannie Wilson.
