LETTER FOR PRIZE CONTEST

W. Atlee Burpee Co.,
Philadelphia, Pa.

Gentlemen;-

Physical ability to "come back" after a siege of partial blindness, was only one good thing that came to me directly as a result of Burpee's seeds.

After some years as newspaper reporter and editor I went to the mountains of Kentucky where I had accepted the pastorate of a church. Neither wife nor I knew anything of gardening, both being city bred. My father, who was country reared, when I wrote him about a garden, sent word, "Burpee's Seeds are the best."

Three years ago my eyes failed sharply. For more than two years I read only by the finger system in raised type, but continued with a garden and with the use of hot beds made a year round garden. Doctors said I needed out-door exercise and I soon became used to the way to work practically with no vision.

My sight came back last winter and there is no doubt the garden work as a ^[[great]] factor in health.

Also in gardening I found innumerable illustrations for sermons and articles published in "Christian Herald", [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] "Youths' Companion" and other periodicals. There was also the great educational advantage in studying nature. My garden work has paid an imponderable dividend. We have always used Burpee's Seeds.

Yours truly,
