The gifts from different members of the Board of Trustees of collections and specimens, exclusive of expeditions, during the year, amount to $41,599.05; from outside sources, there have been collections and specimens to the amount of $2,538.24, making a total of $44,137.29.

Mr. James B. Ford retained Mr. George Wharton Edwards to design a book plate for the Institution and presented it to the Museum with a number of prints of the plate in three sizes. These plates are now inserted in the books belonging to the Institution.

PUBLICATIONS.

Due to the fact that all funds that could be obtained are necessary for the development and completion of the building, it has not been deemed expedient to enter into the publication field to any extent, but, during the past year, the Museum has published the following:

"Certain Archaeological Investigations in Trinidad, British West Indies," by Theodore de Booy.
"A Letter of Pedro de Alvarado Relating to his Expedition to Ecuador," by Marshall H. Saville.

In addition, the Museum has distributed rather widely, in pamphlet form, an article prepared by Mr. George H. Pepper, on the activities of the Museum, published in the December, 1917, number of the Geographical Review.

There are many manuscripts in hand and, when the opportunity presents itself, we have a large quantity of material ready for publication.

Our relations with other Institutions and Museums, in the way of exchanges, remain most cordial, and we have obtained a most interesting collection of Vermont archaeology from the University of Vermont, giving them in return foreign material which has come into this Institution with various collections. There are several other exchanges with different Museums that will be consummated in the near future.

TREASURER'S REPORT.

Attached hereto and submitted as a part hereof is the Treasurer's report for the period from May 1, 1917 to April 1, 1918.

The report covers a period of eleven months as it is desirable in the opinion of the Board to make the fiscal year of the Institution hereafter from April 1st to April 1st. This arrangement will permit of the preparation of the Treasurer's annual report in time for submission to the annual meeting in May without the haste necessary to bring the report down to May 1st.
