ANNUAL REPORT
For the Period from April 1, 1922 to April 1, 1923
OF THE BORD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE MUSEUM OF THE AMERICAN INDIAN
HEYE FOUNDATION
TO

In Compliance with the Provisions of Subdivision 10 of Article III
of the Foundation Deed, Dated May 10, 1916.

TRUSTEES' MEETINGS

Meetings of the Board of Trustees were held upon the following Dates: May 2, 1922, October 3, 1922, December 5, 1922, and February 13, 1923.

At the Annual Meeting on May 2, 1922, the following officers were elected:

Chairman, George G. Heye,
Vice-Chairman, Harmon W. Hendricks.

Members of the Executive Committee to serve until the Annual Meeting in 1925:

Goerge G. Heye,
Harmon W. Hendricks.

At this meeting the Board passed a resolution naming November 15, 1922 as the date for the formal opening of the Museum to the Public.

At the Meeting on October 3, 1922, further action was taken in preparation for the formal opening and the character of that function determined.

At the Meeting held on February 13, 1923, the budget for the ensuing fiscal year commencing April 1st was approved and pledges were received from members of the Board substantially covering the budget requirements for that year.

MEMBERS

At the Meeting of the Board held on October 3, 1922, Dr. George Bird Grinnell was elected a Life Member of the Museum.

At the Meeting of the Board held on February 13, 1923, Miss Mary Doherty of 525 West 120th Street, New York City, and Mr. Leonidas Westervelt of 7 West 50th Street, New York City, were elected Annual Members.

PUBLIC OPENING

The Museum was opened to guests by invitation on November 15, 1922, and to the public on the following day. For the opening day there were sent out a total of 4,820 invitations, of which 66 were returned for better addresses. Of the former number there were sent to local addresses and within one hundred
