We have added to our exchanges this year five new institutions: The University of Montana, issuing "Source material for northwest history"; The Museum of Northern Arizona, publishing periodical and occasional studies; The American Scenic and Historic Preservation Society; Indiana University; and Fisk University.

Since the preceding report the collections of Mr. Hodge and of Professor Saville have been transferred to the Library building, thus adding between six and seven thousand volumes to our shelves.

The library work proper has been carried on by the Librarian, the Assistant Librarian, Miss Tarpgaard, and a part-time assistant, Miss Heck, for the first six months. On December first, Mr. Arthur Dunlop, our Superintendent, resigned, his place being taken by Mr. Edwin F. Coffin by day, and Mr. John Clarkson by night. Douglas Clarkson continues his duties under their joint supervision. Mr. Coffin has so planned that he has been able to assist materially in the technical work of the Library. He takes entire charge of the Museum publications and of the second floor stack.

Another addition to our staff was made in January, Miss Eva Field coming as part-time helper. Miss Field is an expert filer. She is now engaged in filing the Museum catalogue.

The catalogue has been completely revised. At

present a temporary catalogue is being made, until such time as work can be resumed on the analytical catalogue necessary for research use.

Three hundred and twelve titles have been added during the year, making a total of 9,374 in this bibliographical file.

A beginning has been made in photostating the manuscript material sent us for that purpose by the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions. In all, 104 photostats have been made. Receipts from sales total $28.27, most of the copies having been for the Museum.

Eleven hundred and thirty-eight Museum publications have been sent out as gifts, purchases or exchanges.

A collection of Indian water colors by the Pueblo Indians, has been on exhibition at the Library since December. It is loaned by the Exposition of Indian Tribal Arts.
