Today Louise finally moved with the other girls into their new house on Clove Alley. Mears has been staying with the Rubys, Eleanor here and there, including a couple nights in our living room, and the last few at the Rubys'. Louise has been living with us, dressing in Dorothy's study, and sleeping on a cot in the courtyard. The court has been piled full of trunks, and only last night when it rained we had to beat out, and get soaking wet dragging the boxes into the dining room. They should have been covered with waterproof, but that does not help the older ones when the court gets an inch or two under water. The reception room between our studies, and the coal room are both piled with boxes. But today all that is no more. The reception or "deception" room is clear and we are getting it fixed up. Dorothy has a chance to make her study a study. We have been glad to have the girls around and to have Louise with us, but it is rather fun to get rid of all the extra trunks and boxes. The courtyard is so big we get lost going from the studies to the kitchen.

In the afternoon we had the first meeting of the English staff for the season. We got our new organization under way, and all looks well for the season. Dorothy has been busy all week helping the girls hunt jobs and get their house fixed, and I don't know what they would have done without her. But this afternoon she served tea to the staff, and we had a "right nice time."

Carey arrived today from Tsinan. She is a bit weak yet, but coming along. I had to go to the YSCS and Violet came over for tea. When I got home I found R.B. Whitaker waiting to see me, and we had a fine visit over our mutual denominational experiment and interest in symbolism. We had supper and a good evening with Lee and Frieda.
