William Hung. As soon as we decently could the Rubys and Marches left and we went to the home of the former to let off setam. I steamed, acted a fool, told my worst stories, Charliechaplined all over the place and gradually disentangled my complex.

Wednesday, 30 December

Our Sixth Mooniversary, and the end of the regularly allotted period for being bride and groom. From now on we are sober and serious old married people. Dorothy went up to T'ung Fu in the morning to see Alnah and to meet some of the classes there. She also arranged the Sophomore sections for the girls so that she takes my section. Clever lady!

I spent the early part of the afternoon with J. C. Ferguson looking over the manuscript and illustrations of his new book on Chinese painting. He wants me to go over the manuscript for him, which I am delighted to do for the sake of the materials therein contained.

I got home early and we fooled with pictures and copying poems and stuff for a time, then went over to the China Booksellers in the Peking Hotel; an inspection of Mrs. Ayscough's presentation copy of her new Chinese Mirror in Ferguson's study prompted in me the desire to possess a copy myself. We had a long talk with the manager, I ordered a number of books for the library, and, though we did not get the book we went for, we got several others we had been wanting.

Our next stop was at the P. U. M. C. auditorium, where we listened to Dr. Harvey Howard recount some pphases of his bandit experience of the past summer. Dr. Howard may be an excellent captive, but he could have his speaking abilitynimproved before becoming a cusses on the Chataqua platform,

We came home to a fine supper in our hown house, and a pleasant evening alone.

Thursday, 31 December.

Dorothy went with me to my class this morning, and in the afternoon I went as usual to the library. I put in a good afternoon's work, paidmoff my staff, got some orders ready, wrote some letters, and so on.
