For about twenty years I have planted Burpee's seeds, and they have paid me in several ways.
Perhaps the greatest benefit from using them has been improved and conserved health. My business keeping me indoors most of the time, the call of the garden, with its fresh air, sunshine, exercise, and the keen pleasure of seeing things grow, have brought noticeable good results. Nearly thirty years ago my application for life insurance was declined by one company, and a year or two later I was given a sub-standard policy by another. Within the past five years I have secured policies from two companies, and I credit this largely to the many hours I have spent in the garden, and to the liberal use of fresh vegetables in my diet. And the fine vegetables produced, ready to use when at their best, have saved no small amount in grocery and meat bills.
During these twenty years I have also been selling Burpee's seeds to my customers, and have had the satisfaction of making them acquainted with Burpee's Stringless Greenpod, Brittlewax, ^[[insert]] and [[/insert]] Fordhook Bush lima beans, Golden Bantam Corn, Wayahead Lettuce, Blue Bantam Peas, and other fine vegetables.
