What Burpee's Seeds Have Done For Me

Fourteen years ago, I was "a stranger in a strange land," expecting my first baby. Never strong, I felt little interest in anything.
I had ordered sweet pea seeds from "Burpee" beacause "my father back east" did.
With those seeds, came a catalog that opened a new world to me. I would raise vegetables!!
I read much about gardens, questioned all who would answer, came to know my neighbors.
From January to July, I dug, raked, hoed, sifted, weeded, watered and waited.
As each Burpee seed sprouted and grew, I came closer to Mother Earth, a little more fitted to guide the new life that soon dawned, fine and strong.
Such spinach, peas, cucumbers, head lettuce, everything we liked. Too much for our own use, so I gave lavishly.
Came the grocery-man. "Let me sell some of this - its fancy stuff." Two month's grocery bill paid from my garden.
