Transcription Notes:
Notes on Notation: 1. Letter that looks like a 3 may be a "y" in some cases. 2. Words with lines above, which indicates a contraction with the i left out, like revercon, or plantacon, have been transcribed to include the i, so I did "reverc[[i]]on" or "plantac[[i]]on" (plantation); an alternate way would be plantac'on, but I think the 'i' is helpful for readability. 3. In some cases, words have been added above the main line of the sentence. These are indicated by ^[[words]]. 4. "ff" at start of word indicates a capital "F" 5. Some of the markings at the ends of lines may only be decorative fillers Notes on words/phrases: 1. 'Reverc[[i]]on': The right, especially of the original owner or their heirs, to possess or succeed to property on the death of the present possessor or at the end of a lease. 2. 'Enfeoff / Enfeoffed': (under the feudal system) give (someone) freehold property or land in exchange for their pledged service. 3. 'Behoof': One's advantage or benefit. 4. 'Ingenios': A colonial-era Portuguese term for a sugar cane mill and the associated facilities. Also spelled "engenho."
