Transcription Notes:
Notes: 1. The line/tilde above words like "mencon"/"menconed" ("mentioned" in modern transcription) and "considercon" ("consideration") indicates an abbreviation/contraction that removs the 'i'; transcribed as menc[[i]]oned for readability. There are many examples of this on the first page. 2. The date in the center of the document, 28th March 1684, is likely a scribal error. The correct date is the date listed in the body of the document, 28th March 1685. I have maintained the scribal error in the transcription here. 3. 'vs': Latin for vide supra, meaning "see above" or, look earlier on this document. 4. 'y?': a 17th-century shorthand for "the." See Ronald Hill, "Interpreting the Symbols and Abbreviations in Seventeenth Century English and American Documents," 3. 5. '& nos': Latin, meaning "and we." The term is commonly used in legal texts above the signatures of those concerned in the legal contract.
