29th Sept. 1929. A fine day after a wet night, rather cool & not much hot sun owing to high haze.
Clara, [[insertion]] WI [[/insertion]] oaks on sandflat 1 mile below bridge, as usual.
[[underlined]] Bombus agrorum [[/underlined]] [[2 virgin female symbols]] & [[2 male symbols]] seen. [[underlined]] B. lucorum [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] seen.
[[underlined]] Halictus rubicundus [[/underlined]] & [[underlined]] H. calceatus [[/underlined]]1 [[male symbol]] each seen on Scabious
[[underlined]] Vespa vulgaris [[/underlined]] 1 [[male symbol]], [[2 virgin female symbols]] (or ? [[2 male symbols]]) seen [[underlined]] Lissonota sulphurifera [[/underlined]] [[male symbol]] ?
[[underlined]] Pimpla rufa [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] { with almost red hind tibiae. [[underlined]] Schizopyga atra [[/underlined]] 2 [[strikethrough]] [[2 female symbols]] [[/strikethrough]] [[2 male symbols]] on oak at top of sand flat.
[[underlined]] Mesocharis [[/underlined]] sp. [[male symbol]]. MDS. by river.
[[underlined]] Pezomachus [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] swept in woods.
Saw swallows (?) near Laragh.

Larvae of 3 spp. of sawflies taken on [[underlined]] Salix cinerea [[/underlined]] at Garryduff Cross Roads near Stump Castle, WI. Em 19.5.30
[[underlined]] Nematinus fuscipennis [[/underlined]] var. Em. 19.5.30. [[checkmark]] RCLP. in litt dated 17.4.31.
[[underlined]] Pteronidea ferryginea [[/underlined]] [[checkmark]] RCLP. 4 [[2 male symbols]] em. 18.6.30 & onwards, found dead in pot at end of season & probably parasite; of [[underlined]] Pt. ferryginea [[/underlined]] 
[[underlined]] Mesoleius [[/underlined]] but could have come from larvae of [[underlined]] Croesus sept. [[/underlined]] from Poulaphuca, KD. reared in pot earlier in 1929

4th October 1929. A showery afternoon, after fine morning, Powerscourt demesne, 3.30 till 5.30 pm., after heavy shower!
[[[underlined]] Lissonota [[comnicata?]] [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] taken by George amidst grass in deerpark).
Most other species taken in demesne not far above Golden Gate but a few on right bank of river a mile below deerpark!

6th October 1929. A cold day, with NW gale & showers after very deep depression.  Drove Brunker to Powerscourt deerpark gate & walked up old road & spent day in corries between Maulin & Tonduff, Co. WI.  Saw beech form, [[underlined]] Hymenophyllum unilaterale [[/underlined]], [[underlined]] Cystopteris fragilis [[/underlined]] & collected liverworts for M.B.  We intended looking for [[underlined]] Lycopodium alpinum [[/underlined]] on Maulin but were driven into corry by the gale.  Got 2 rare black "sooty" lichens for Miss Knowles.

9th October 1929. [[insertion]] (labelled 8.10.29.) [[/insertion]]  A fine day, cold, with NW wind, squally, considerable sun in aft. 
Powerscourt demesne, above middle lodge, WI.  With E.OM. & Miss Scott, to see place where [[underlined]] she believes [[/underlined]] she took the [[male symbol]] [[underlined]] Metoccus paradoxa [[/underlined]] in Oct. 1929.  A number of ichneumon, Braconids &c. taken, most by O'Mahony when sweeping:-
[[underlined]] Bombus agrorum [[/underlined]] [[2 virgin female symbols]] & [[underlined]] Vespa vulgaris [[/underlined]] [[2 virgin female symbols]] seen.
[[underlined]] Halictus [[/underlined]] sp. [[male symbol]] on fallen ash, like black [[underlined]] H. calceatus[[/underlined]]
