13th October 1929. A very mild day, with SW. wind.
No real sun at M. Waters after our arrival till 2 pm then considerable sun till 3-30.
Valley of Avonmore above the Meeting of the Waters, Avoca, WI. 12-30 till 4 pm.
Spent morning above Castle Howard Gate on left bank (just above ry. bridge/ [[insertion]] ^ [[circled]] = "1" [[/circled]] [/insertion]] where caught black [[female symbol]] ick. [[insertion]] = Melanichneumon saturatorius ! [[/insertion]] with white "stern" & Daisy took wingless Proctotrypid in cup taken out of rucksack. After lunch walked up right bank & took some small icks, (& braconids) by sweeping hazel bushes by track, also 1 [[female symbol]] (Tryphonid ?) = Pristomerus. with Congish ovipositor [[insertion]] ^ [[circled]] = 2 [[/circled]] [[/insertion]]. Afterwards crossed to left bank by 2nd ry. bridge & all other icks collected at foot of woods along turnip-field immediately NE of said bridge. [[insertion]] ^ [[circled]] = 3 [[/circled]] [[/insertion]]
The only aculeates seen were one or two very worn 
[[underlined]] Bombus agrorum [[underlined]] & some [[underlined]] Vespa (? [[underlined]] vulgaris [[/underlined]]).
