12.30 - 3.0 pm.  Very little sun, though warm along coast out of wind.  Worked strip of dunes S. of point & between that & track to beach.

[[underlined]] Andrena fucata [[/underlined]] [[strikethrough]] ? [[/strikethrough]] [[checkmark]] one worn  [[female symbol]] on Rubus.
[[underlined]] Colletes montanus [[/underlined]] a few only seen [[male symbol]]? & [[female symbol]] taken.
[[underlined]] Colletes picistigma [[/underlined]] [[2 male symbols]] abundant;  a few [[2 female symbols]] seen.

[[underlined]] Oxybelus uniglumis [[/underlined]] frequent on [[underlined]] Carduus arvensis [[/underlined]].

22.7.30 cont.  Left Cahore about 3pm & drove west, crossing Ballycanew-Gorey road, to Carrickroe Hill, which ascended - rocky top, with bare ground (? burnt) & much [[underlined]] Erica cinarea [[/underlined]] in flower at which many Bombus, including [[underlined]] B. jonellus [[/underlined]] [[2 virgin female symbols]], [[underlined]] B. lucorum [[/underlined]] [[2 male symbols]] & [[2 female symbols]], [[underlined]] B. agrorum [[/underlined]] [[2 virgin female symbols]], [[underlined]] B. muscorum [[/underlined]] [[2 virgin female symbols]] very fresh!, [[underlined]] B. lapidarius [[/underlined]] [[2 virgin female symbols]].
Also [[underlined]] B. hortorum [[/underlined]] [[2 virgin female symbols]] at [[underlined]] Teucrium [[/underlined]] flowers.  
On N. side of this hill is remnant of an old Oak-Birch wood, but too dull & cold for anything to be out.  Near summit are many seedling willows growing on bare ground (alt. ca. 700 feet) & on them were taken several sets of Pteronidea ? larvae, which were brought home to rear.  Also larvae of Puss Moth.
Both [[underlined]] Pteronidea ferruginea [[/underlined]] ? larvae pupated 24th July & 12 [[2 female symbols]] emerged on 22nd August 1930.
Braconid [[underlined]] Phanerotoma dentata [[/underlined]] Pz. taken on bonnet of motor at Carrickroe Hill, WX.
