5th Oct. 1930. A fine morning but very wind.
Beating for sawfly larvae on Salix, &c in Enniskerry marsh (=1), Kilmacamoge marsh (=2) & The Quill Channel marsh (=3), Co. WI
10-30 till 12-30 noon. In museum in aft. 
At 1 I took three green larvae with pink porsal stripe: ? [[Pteronidae custespina?]], also 1 or 2 deep green larvae which escaped? All on Salix. 
At 2.  One deep green with pinkish tail & 1 dull green with minute spots, latter very small. Salix
At 3. on Birch : 3 or 4 pale green spatulate larvae 
One small ick. beaten out of Salix at 2 &  1 large [[underlined]] Anomalid seen on Angelica but missed at 1.
[One small sp. taken in motor on [[strikethrough]] way [[/strikethrough]] arrival home! = [[underlined]] Orthocentris radialis [[/udnerlined]] [[female symbol]]? ]

[[underlined]] Pontamia [[/underlined]] sp. (probably [[underlined]] P. bella [[/underlined]] : R.C.L.P. in litt 6.4.32) 1 [[male symbol]] em. 6.6.31.

6th Oct. 1930. A showery day, but sunny intervals : very stormy SW-W winds. Day after the disaster to airship R.101 in France!
George's [[insertion]] ^ 1st [[/insertion]] monthly holiday!
Drove to Newbridge & then towards Rathangan

but not so far, then round Hill of Allen, which we ascended, & then home.  Co. KD.
On N. side of Hill of Allen saw [[underlined]] Bombus agrorum [[/underlined]] (several) (1 [[male symbol]] at least) & 1 [[male symbol]] each [[underlined]] Halictus calceatus [[/underlined]] & [[underlined]] H. Freygessneri [[/underlined]] on Ragwort flowers.
On return journey caught an ick in motor just W. of Naas, Co. KD, at canal bridge.

12th October 1930. A beautiful day! Very warm sun most of the time & only a few stray clouds in morning, but very cool w. breeze.  Plenty of flowers out!
Meeting of the Waters, Avoca, Co. WI. 11.45 till 3.30 pm.
Scrub on rt bank of river by ry. bridge above Castle Howard gate = 1. Hedge of field on left bank of river above next ry. bridge over river = 2.

[[underlined]] Halictus rubicundus [[/underlined]] 1 [[male symbol]], several fresh [[2 female symbols]] above 1 on ry.
[[underlined]] H. calceatus [[/underlined]] [[insertion]] 1 [[male symbol]] & [[/insertion]] 1 [[female symbol]] on ry. at 1. [[underlined]] H. albipes [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] at 1 on ry.

[[underlined]] H. villosulus [[/underlined]] [[2 female symbols]] on ry above 1.

[[underlined]] Vespa vulgaris [[/underlined]] next in full swing at 2 & 1 [[male symbol]] taken on ivy.
[[underlined]] Athalia [[/underlined]] [[male symbol]] at 1 : the only sawfly seen!
