Printing Office, have, however, been put
into shape, and are now in the hands 
of the ^[[public]] printer ^[[.x.]]. As this publication, fully illustrated, will be, to my knowledge, the first treatise on this most interesting subject, based on authentic information
received from a ^[[competent]] native Japanese
source, it may claim the value of a treatise based on original research. 

The number of last catalogue entry for the year ending June 30, 1892, having been 4976, and the last entry for the fiscal year under consideration being 5230, it follows that the new accessions catalogued during the year number 254. Most of these entries comprising only a single specimen,
the total number of specimens received during the year may be placed at about 260.
