John A Grant, Asst. Div Supt L.V. C. Co. Lost Creek, Pa., was buried today at Pottsville - Large funeral -

"Lil" mule was hurt yesterday afternoon in Vulcan Colliery, in the East Top Split Gangway - Driver, Cooney Dush, was "bumping" the cars out, and as he must have [[strikethrough]] pr [[/strikethrough]] came out very quick, it did not give his team (3 mules) time enough to get past the cars in front, and the hitching mule, "Lil" was bumped. "Meyers" examined it, and said its hind part [[underlined]] was [[/underlined]] paralyzed - Doubts it very much that it will recover - "Daisy" mule was hurt this Pm. at B. Mtn 3rd East Gangway 5 mule team - John Tansey driver - 9 cars on inside turnout. - grade light - mules could not pull them - cut 4 and pulled them out were grade is heavier - went back for other 5 - wheel broke in last car - started off - coupling broke between second + third car - mules ran away with the 2 cars - got tangled up when they met first section - 3rd mule Daisy fell - hurt hind leg - none of them bumped - cannot tell whether broken or not as it is swollen - Meyers will examine it tomorrow. The driver at Vulcan was suspended - indefinite time - Killed it at B Mtn.

Both Collieries worked 9 hours-

Killed the mule "Lil" that was [[strikethrough]] got [[/strikethrough]] hurt at Buck Mountain yesterday - Dislocated hip - 

Four Men (4) and a boy were killed in the P.&R Co's new shaft at Wadesville, Pa today - An iron guide, that [[strikethrough]] was [[/strikethrough]] encircled the rope, and went up and down with the bucket, became frozen, and 4 men and a pump boy got on the [[strikethrough]] shaft [[/strikethrough]] bucket [[strikethrough]] cage [[/strikethrough]] and were lift down. The guide remained on top, and when the cage stopped down at about 300 feet, to leave pump boy off, the guide on top went down - guided by the rope - knocked 4 men off and another pump boy, who got on when other pump boy got off - The 5 bodies fell to the bottom of the shaft, 300 feet below where they were stuck, and all were found dead but the boy, who died after reaching Pottsville Hospital -
