Disagreeable day - Showers, sunshine, clouds -

Both Collieries worked 7 hours - Cars scarce - Received 25 Vulcan, 2 1/2 BMtn - Delano informed us this PM that they would run cars everyday for the balance of the week - This will make 5 days cars - BMtn will work tomorrow and Vulcan will be idle - on acct of cars being scarce, Delano will only give us about 56 cars total - Breakers are nearly full - Would not permit us to work all day at Both places -

Trip of cars jumped the track on #2 slope this PM, and pulled down some coal & Rock - between 2' & 3' lifts - Will be cleaned up tonight -

James Quirk of Mahanoy City asked Elmer at Vulcan this afternoon for permission to lay a line of pipe over our New Boston tract, eastern portion - J Kaier & Co have bought the dam, close to eastern limit of our New Boston tract, and will lay a line of pipe to Mahanoy City - Elmer -

Put in cog wheel, 4' dia Egg Elevators, East side, Vulcan, last night -
Our team went to Tamauqua Mfg Co for the wheel, arrived home at about 9.30 PM

Threatening weather early this morning - Cleared up at 8 am
Pleasant remainder of day - Rained on and off last night

Buck Mountain Colliery worked only 9 hours - Were to get 56 cars, total allotment of both Collieries for one day, but Delano said they had a wreck on the line somewhere, only put in 35 - say we will get 56 tomorrow - If so, Vulcan will work tomorrow and BMtn will be idle - This will necessitate working 1/2 day at each Colliery on Saturday in order to load all the cars - Delano some time ago informed us, that when they are running cars they [[strikethrough]] will [[/strikethrough]] would put in one or two day's allotments in the one day - This, they have not done this week, and it has caused the broken time that has been worked this week and the remainder of the week - They do not know [[strikethrough]] how [[/strikethrough]] what they can do themselves, it seems -

Few men working at Vulcan - Gondolas are scarce. Did not receive any at Buck Mountain or Vulcan yesterday or today, although our orders call for about 2/5 gondolas at Vulcan and 3/5 at BMtn.
