certain others in the survey of natural scenery for painting purposes. The same principle applies also to the practice of utilizing only one portion of a negative to make the whole picture, and to the use of long focus lens to obtain a view in part, for the sake of better perspective. From which it may be seen that oriental art can interchange ideas with photography to the benefit of both.

In recent years many international photographic exhibitions have been held in various cities of the World, with thousands of entrants whose work lie side by side without any limitation as to race, creed, or standing--a spirit of cosmopolitanism happily prevailing in art. Not only is photography a fine art, it is also making advancement in other fields such as that of promoting culture in society, and of improvements in the medical and industrial science--in all of which and in other fields no less beneficial, remarkable achievements have been made. Any invention, to be worthy of lasting honour, must be one having as one of its objects the betterment of humanity's welfare. This reminds us of the centenary anniversary of the great inventor of photography, Louis Jacques Mandé Daguerre, which the Université l'Aurore is commemorating on October 14th. It has been my good fortune to be asked by the authorities of the University to hold an exhibition of my works at the [[italics]] grande Salle de l'Universite [[/italics]] for which the opening ceremony will be performed at the same time. On the second day, viz October 15th, admission tickets will be sold and proceeds will be donated to l'Association Photographique de l'Aurore for purchase of apparatus for medical photography.

A further exhibition will be held from 13th to 15th November at The Sun Co., for which the proceeds from sale of admission tickets will be donated to refugee relief work in the interior of China.

Thanks are due all my good friends who have helped me realize my dearest ambition in this exhibition.
