partly for the sake of his health, and partly for the purpose of studying in Europe, it has been thought desirable to put the collection into a condition which would make it possible for a successor to acquaint himself with it without too much trouble.  With this aim in view the following statement is submitted:-
All the specimens belonging to the Section of Graphic Arts, with the exception of the collection of patents and some other printed documents, and the eleven specimens hung in the Smithsonian Building, are either displayed in the Hall of Graphic Arts, or packed away in drawers in the storage cases provided for the purpose.  In these drawers, which are labelled, they have been roughly sorted according to technical divisions.
The books belonging to the special library of the Section will also be found in the storage cases.
