For Prize Contest.

Upon learning the name "Burpee" I indulged a love of color and grew masses of free blooming annuals; the combination of California Poppies with Cornflowers, being dearly loved by an invalid who enjoyed seeing the golden cups [[strikethrough]] open and [[/strikethrough]] close & re-open.

My particular reason for wanting the best flowers obtainable, is, that they become subjects for oil paintings. Yours have every quality desired.

"Orange and Blue," exhibited at Providence Art Club, is a portrait group of the Calendula family; "Orange King" "Royal Trianon", "favorite", etc. can easily be recognized.

The color and form of your exquisite flowers have been my inspiration.
