          Darjeeling, March 15/95

Dear Mr. Hecker,
   My last letter to you written at Bankipore like several others, was scratched off most hurriedly in a Railway station. Traveling in this blessed country is none to luxurious at best and in some places they only contents of ones room consists of what he carries with him, one chair, an excuse for a cot and an apology for a table. 
Here however, there is an excellent hotel and scenery of great beauty. Fifty miles
