I have the honor to inform you that Mess Moore and Badger Atty's for Dr Cook have signified their intention of seeing Eliza Sigen in an action for ejectment, to cause her to leave the premises now occupied by her.
Will you please inform me, if any steps have been taken, to bring this matter to the attention of the U.S. Dist. Att'y and if so, what action he has taken.

Your report in the case of Elijah Conner has been received.  It appearing that you acted on an exparte statement of the case, the Asst. Commissioner directs me to say that your action is disapproved and to direct that in future the civil courts will not be interfered with, until the case in question has been thoroughly investigated and the evidence of both parties taken, and then only in pursuance of existing orders.

I have the honor in reply to your communication of August 28th in reference to alleged interference with the action of the civil courts in Catawba County, to enclose herewith a copy of the report of Bvt. Major. H.D. Norton, Asst. Supt. in the matter.
It appears that Maj. Norton acted hastily in this case, he having heard but an exparte statement.
He has been informed that his action is disapproved and warned against any future interference with the civil courts, except in direct pursuance of existing orders.
