suitable buildings. In Wilmington the Bishop informs me a grant has been obtained of a lot sufficient for the site of four buildings which he proposes shall be when completed for Church and School.
It is respectfully suggested that of the various buildings mentioned in the endorsement of Maj Johnston on the communication of Rev George Whipple Secy &c dated Jan 9th 1867, and this day returned to your offices a portion of them be restored on the Am Missionary Association and a portion on the Commission represented by Bishop Atkinson. Keeping perhaps a portion in reserve. There are a number of buildings also in New Berne property of the Bureau which might be made available likewise in this direction if removed to proper sites.
I have the honor to transmit also herewith a communication from Rev F.A. Fiske Supt of Education for this State strongly recommending that assistance be rendered to further the enterprise in which Bishop Atkinson is engaged.
